Did you know that English vineyards are now producing an average of four million bottles per year? Even the French recognise the quality of our soils with Champagne giant Taittinger recently purchasing 40 hectares in England to be planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.
The UK is now a premium wine producing region with around 5,000 vineyards in England and Wales with quite a few of them being in the Westcountry. You’ll find no less than EIGHT local wines on our wine list! We stock wines from the famous Camel Valley, Knightor and Polgoon Wineries from Cornwall and Pebblebed and Lyme Bay Vineyards from Devon.
Polgoon is the newest addition to our list and we stock their Seyval Blanc Sparkling. It’s a single variety, single estate, rather special sparkling wine from Polgoon which is just outside Penzance. The wine is crisp and lively and a perfect accompaniment to Cornish seafood and shellfish.
