It’s all change at the Pandora Inn this coming week when our NEW bigger and better pontoon is installed!
Our current pontoon has come to the end of its useful life – a floating pontoon stretching out into a tidal creek is exposed to everything the weather and sea throw at it.
Work will start this coming week (11th June) to deconstruct the existing pontoon (this is being recycled/repurposed into a new ‘quieter’ role in Fowey!) and to float the new pontoon into place. Inevitably, this will mean a little disruption but it should be an interesting procedure watch! We have commissioned the company who produced our aerial video to set up a time-lapse camera to record the process and, subject to Wi-Fi connections, we hope to be able to live stream some of the work.
The new pontoon will be safer and stronger with a wider walkway, more seating capacity and easier mooring for visiting boats. As you can imagine, this is a huge investment in the future of The Pandora Inn so we hope you’ll excuse any disruption caused.
The new pontoon installation is being overseen by the company that repaired the damaged railway line at Dawlish several years ago. Here are photos of the new pontoon taken by the contractors during the construction process.
